How to submit a post
To submit a post to this blog, log in with your forum username and password.
You’ll find the WordPress “Dashboard”; look for the link entitled “Posts” on the left side of the screen. Follow that link. Then, in the center of the page, click the button named “Add New”, located by Edit Posts. (Alternatively, click the little arrow by the “Posts” link, and then click on the link also called “Add New”).
You can now enter a title for your post and the post content. You can choose a category for your post, which is a broader classification it falls into. In addition, you can add tags to your post indicating a few keywords that are relevant to your post. (There’s a very fine distinction here, and sometimes even your editors get confused about this! There are a few pages searchable on the internet where you can find other opinions and explanations of the subject). In most cases, you don’t need to do anything else (edit the permalink, add trackbacks, make an excerpt, or add any custom fields).
If you want to pause work and save your work for you to look at later, you can hit “Save Draft”, which performs the advertised function.
Once you are done, you may click “Submit for Review” so that your editors (GoldStar611 and Leftylink) can review your post. If there are no objections, the post will appear on the front page after review. In the case that we do need to make changes, you will be notified via PM on the forums. Note that you do need to click “Submit for Review” if you want your post to be published. If you simply click “Save Draft” when you meant to submit your post, we will assume the post is just that, a draft, and that you are still working on it.
So in summary:
- Log in with your forum username/password
- Posts->Add New
- Type away!
- Hit “Submit for Review” when you’re done
